1. Research
Objectives (2nd year)
(1) The
first objective is the raise the awareness and the standing of Korean studies
from the academic aspects. This will be achieved through the research, the
presentations and the promotion of the current project. Through this academic
work, various materials in each country, concerning the other one, will be
disclosed to the world.
(2) The
second objective concerns the education and the involvement in the project of
the specialists majoring in Korean studies and those teaching them. Korean has
just recently become a second language in the foreign language education at the
Macedonian university and in order for its status to be raised to that of a
department, a support from Korea (projects like the present one) and the
cooperation of the scholars is needed.
(3) The
third objective is to encourage the Macedonian students to study Korean language
and to support the associate researchers in this project through providing
respectively scholarships and research benefits, which will motivate them and
help them feel the necessity of Korean studies.
(4) The
fourth objective is the setting up of an international network between Korea
and Macedonia. With initiatives of The Academy of Korean Studies, the
foundations of the international network have been laid, but more active
support and cooperation is required for the future.
2. Contents
and scope of Research (2nd year)
Through those records from
1st year, the
researchers will get acquainted with each other’s country and will be able to
research and develop the most effective method of intercultural communication.
This method will be applied in education programs in Korean language and Korean
studies. It will also play the role of a measuring stuck in assessing the
relative importance of different policies when building the infrastructure for
the enlarging of the foundations of Korean studies (This is the main objective
for the second year of the research period.)
Based on a general
methodology on establishing the foundations of Korean studies, the current
research has the ultimate goal of aiding the founding of a major in Korean
language (or a Department of Korean language) at the Macedonian university, for
the promotion of Korean studies in Macedonia, their consequent development and
expansion, and on the grounds of that, the intensifying of the exchange of
human and material resources between the two countries.
