* Preparing the foundation for Korean studies in Macedonia

After the disintegration of the Yugoslavian federation, Macedonia, which was a part of it, became an independent country. Because of its geopolitical significance, the relations with Korea have been intensifying and the establishment of a foundation for the development of Korean studies is an important element of them. The present study constitutes the first example of cooperation in research of scholars from Macedonia and Korea and it can trigger further interest in the Macedonian academics towards Korea and bring active research in the future.

* Scientific contribution in Korea to the regional studies on Macedonia, the Balkans and Eastern Europe

At Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, where part of the current research is being conducted, there are Greek and Bulgarian Studies Department, Serbian and Croatian Studies Department, Romanian Studies Department and others, in which research and study the languages and the cultures of the countries from the Balkan region. Until now, Macedonia has been somewhat left out and it is in the need of a new interest and an activation of the research on it. With this project as a starting point, the academic interest in Korea towards this country can be stimulated this study can become a good opportunity to activate the research on the Balkan country. Moreover, the activating of the research could be expanded cover the Balkans in general.

* Contribution to the intercultural communication between Korea and Macedonia and the activation of exchange between the two countries

The foundation of educational and research centre of Korean studies in Macedonia can become the most important base for the future advance of Korea to Macedonia or the advance of Macedonia to Korea for the future mutual communication. That is why, if the strategy for intercultural communication between Macedonia and Korea, obtained through this research, is used, the effective exchange and the development of the relations between the two countries can be maximized.
